Inktober 2017 - Adventure Time Inspired

It’s no surprise that two of my favorite things - Inktober and Adventure Time - would eventually be combined. And that’s exactly what I did in 2017 when October rolled around and Inktober began. If you’re not familiar, “Inktober is a month long art challenge created by artist Jake Parker that is focused on improving skill and developing positive drawing habits. Every day for the month of October anyone participating in the Inktober challenge creates an ink drawing and posts it online.”. The prompts change each year and are released usually a month before so you can begin planning your creations for the month.

I used the official 2017 prompt list and started off with the word “swift”. I originally thought I’d all of my illustrations that month in black ink with gray tones only but, as you can see, I quickly changed my mind on Day 3 with the prompt “poison”. I felt using color conveyed the illustrations better than just in black and gray. Do you agree?

I love the idea of Inktober because not only does it require you to draw EVERY DAY, but it also helps spur on your creativity when you’re trying to interpret the prompts that are given. In a way, it’s also good for those of us that have art block or just those days when you want to draw but don’t know what to draw.

If you like the art work that I created for this challenge, consider purchasing my Inktober Art Book / Zine that I have in my Shop! It’s printed on high quality paper and makes a great addition for any Adventure Time lover. Enjoy!
